Level 4 REMOVING BUILDING RESIDUE OFF GLASS
Staining on glass can have many causes but it usually involves water contacting another material first before settling on the glass. Usually termed “Hard Water Staining”. The most common examples are:
| Sprinkler systems allowed to spray onto the glass. | |
| Water running over concrete then onto glass causing “lime Staining”. Often appears as white streaks. | |
| Glass next to concrete paths. Rain hits the path and splashes onto glass. | |
| Swimming pools. Chlorine and salt spray will stain surrounding glass. | |
| Water hitting aluminium framing then splashing onto glass. Staining occurs closest to frame…usually at the bottom. | |
| Metal flyscreens…rain hitting mesh will stain glass. |
Head for Heights can remove most staining. It is expensive and the cost will vary depending on what is required. Mild staining can be removed by Grade 0 steel wool and detergent while heavy staining requires the use of strong chemicals. This is labour intensive and time consuming.
